Here’s a fact for you.

About 2.1 billion people in the world today are obese. That’s almost 30% of Earth’s entire population. I was once part of that statistic. But I’m not anymore.

Hi, my name is Jeremiah and I’m happy to say that I lost 100 pounds in just 6 months.

I no longer fit into the obese category. But I do fit into smaller clothes!

It’s something I’m very proud of. Before I got this accomplished though, I was not a very happy person.

And I would venture to say there are many more of you out there that feel just like I did only 6 months ago.

I was spending every day miserable and feeling stuck in a body that I didn’t like. I was worried about my health, but I didn’t know what to do to fix it.

But then, after a doctor’s appointment where I suffered through another scolding from my family physician, I decided it was time that I make a change.

So, I’m going to share my story and tell you how to lose 100 pounds in 6 months.

My First Steps

There had been so much that was keeping me awake at night.

From thoughts about my health to aches and pains in my body. Every night my joints would hurt from all the extra weight I carried around all day.

My final straw came when the doctor told me that I was diabetic, and my weight was the cause of it.

He prescribed me some new medication and sent me home with pamphlets and paperwork all about the way I would have to live going forward with diabetes.

So finally, after years and years of being overweight, I started doing some research into what I could do to change my situation.

I looked up everything I could find about different diet plans that might be helpful or supplements that could increase my weight loss rate.

There is so much information out there about how to lose weight but not all of it will be right for you and some of it is really confusing.

It’s important to choose something that will fit for you and will be sustainable in the long run. There are some tips that will help you to know how to lose 100 pounds in 6 months.

They’re things that anyone can work into their normal routines.

Helpful Weight Loss Tips

Sugar Is Not Your Friend

Taking sugar out of your diet will make you lose weight all by itself. Even if you didn’t change anything else, this one difference would help you lose weight and pretty quickly.

If you read the labels of processed foods, you will see that most of them have a lot of fructose. Fructose is not a good substance for your body.

It’s hard for your body to process fructose, especially if you aren’t taking in enough fibre.

With highly processed foods, fibre is often taken out of them because it increases the shelf life of the food.

So, when you eat these kinds of foods, you are eating a ton of fructose and little to no fibre to help you process them.

Your body then starts turning the fructose into fat that it stores somewhere. Also, your appetite and craving system starts getting all out of whack.

Limit Your Intake of Carbs

Carbs that we find in the more starchy foods like potatoes are good for avoiding too.

When your body digests carbs like these, it turns them into sugars.

The sugars then go through the process of turning into fat and getting stored by the body just like was mentioned above.

Simply Eat Less

Live by the rule that less is more. Eating less food at one time is more weight loss.

Portions seem to have gotten bigger and bigger in some countries around the world as time goes on.

And because of that, people seem to have gotten bigger and bigger too.

The amount of food you eat in one sitting is a huge factor for getting to a healthy weight and maintaining it.

Eat smaller portions of whatever it is you’re eating, and you will definitely see a difference in your weight.

Drink Tons of Water

One thing that a lot of us do is eat for the wrong reasons.

We eat because we’re bored, because we’re upset, because we’re alone, because we’re with others, or even just because the food is there.

But the only valid reason for needing to eat is because you’re hungry and your body needs the fuel.

When you want something to eat, try drinking a big glass of water. I found that most of the time when I do this, I end up not eating at all.

I’m not hungry, my body actually just needed to be hydrated.

Dehydration is just another invalid reason that people end up eating at a time when they shouldn’t.

Be More Active

Your diet is the most important piece when it comes to how to lose 100 pounds in 6 months. But, that being said, exercise is a nice topper to the changes you make in your diet.

It can help you to amp up your metabolism and help you feel more energetic.

You can choose from a large variety of workout types.

Anything from walking to weightlifting to yoga could be a good add-on to help you lose the weight you want to.

2-Week Rapid Weight Loss Plan

Getting started into something new is usually the hardest part. But if you can make a start that gives you good results quickly, that will help you feel more motivated to do it. A good place to start out on your weight loss journey is the “2-week rapid weight loss plan” designed by Dr. Oz.

This plan isn’t meant to be a long-term plan that you stick to. It’s meant to jumpstart you and get you moving toward achieving your weight loss goals.

Here’s your menu

  • Breakfast – cup hot water with ½ lemon, breakfast smoothie (recipe on website), green tea
  • Carbs – ½ cup cooked brown rice
  • Dairy – 1 cup 2% plain Greek yogurt
  • Protein – 6 oz. serving of meat (fish, chicken, or turkey)
  • Fats – Good fats like avocado or olive oil
  • Vegetables –as many low-glycemic veggies as you want and detox broth (recipe on website)
  • Snacks –handfuls of nuts, hummus, pickles

Here’s what to take out:

  • White sugar
  • Dairy (other than what is specified)
  • Alcohol
  • Wheat (other than what is specified)
  • Meals between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.
  • Artificial sweeteners
  • Caffeine (other than green tea)
  • Additional exercise

Things you should do every day during the plan

  • Soak in a detox bath (2 cups Epsom salt and 1 cup baking soda)
  • Take a probiotic when you get up
  • Take a multivitamin (try splitting half in the morning and a half at night)

Eat low-glycemic vegetables like they’re going out of style

  • Eat as many of these as you want
  • Eat these when you want to stay full
  • Let your body burn through the glycogen so it can start burning fat

  • 4 avocados
  • 4 bananas
  • 56 oz. frozen berries
  • 4 lemons
  • 2 qts. Vanilla almond milk unsweetened
  • 1 ½ lbs. fish, chicken, or turkey
  • 7 (6 oz.) plain 2% Greek yogurts

Stick to the plan

  • Print out the recipes for the smoothie and the detox broth
  • Download the whole plan
  • Print the “one-sheet” and put it somewhere that will remind you of how to stick to the plan

This plan is only two weeks long. It is not hard to stick with.

And the results you’ll see from it right away are worth the extreme changes you have to make to follow this short kickstart plan.

Once you see it start working for you, you might not even want to stop eating this way. And that’s ok.

If you want to continue with it for longer, you can to give yourself a bigger boost to your weight loss early on.

It’s just tough to think of eating this way for any long period of time.

It’s not realistic to think that you could, so even if you extend your plan to more than two weeks.

Remember that you’ll have to go to something more sustainable at some point in time.

That’s where the tips I covered earlier in this post will come in handy.

Whatever you decide to do, just always keep your end goal in mind and make sure that what you’re doing is ultimately helping you get closer to achieving that goal.

The thought of weight loss is scary. Believe me, no one gets that more than I do. But I can tell you that nothing I’ve ever done for myself has been more worth it than this. I’m a better version of myself and so much happier.

I’m no longer a diabetic who needs medication to control my self-inflicted disease.

In fact, I’ve been taken off two other medications I had been put on due to my weight as well. I’m not in pain anymore and I have more mobility than I can ever remember having at any time in my life.

I feel freed from the pounds that had been weighing me down and holding me back throughout so much of my life.
